Now it is time for players to pave the way to victory by either attempting to build a bridge across the Piave or by preventing their enemies from doing just that. The king supported his new chief in a plan to stand firm on the Piave river, to prevent Venice from falling into enemy hands. They met with the British and French prime ministers and decided to replace Luigi Cadorna with Armando Diaz as the new Italian chief of staff. At the same time, Boselli resigned as the prime minister of Italy and a new cabinet was formed. History books tell us of how, after the Italian defeat at Caporetto (24 October 1917), they retreated to the Tagliamento line. Battling their Italian enemies on the dangerous hillsides by the river banks, the German soldiers must survive the treacherous nooks and crannies of Caporetto as they attempt to overcome the challenge of the Piave with all their might.

Soldiers on PC, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S can expect various new weapons as well as the second of three new Offensive maps based on the Twelfth Battle of Isonzo. Isonzo will receive its second update regarding the overall Caporetto expansion on February 28th. The Great War on the Italian Front is brought to life and elevated to unexpected heights! But remember - it’s not the mountain we conquer, but the enemy. Players will handle everything from bayonets and machine guns to mortars and rifle grenades - if that’s not doing the job, they can call in support from heavy artillery barrages, bombing runs, or lethal poison gas. This is a battle for the fate of nations, and both sides will unleash their huge arsenals of weapons. React to battlefield conditions by choosing your role and loadout carefully: snipe enemy engineers from mountainsides to stop them cutting your wire, use rifle grenades to clear enemy strong points across the river, or call in artillery barrages as an officer. The tactical situation can change at any moment!

Isonzo is the third game in the WW1 Game Series, and introduces players to high-altitude Alpine warfare in Northeast Italy. The brand new Offensive game mode puts players right in the middle of key historical offensives on the Italian Front, from high-altitude combat in the Alps through to the ferocious battles for the Isonzo river. The fighting takes place among the scenic peaks, rugged valleys and idyllic towns of northern Italy.
